Our purpose is to enhance and advocate for the wellbeing and empowerment of women. We can support you in all areas of your life. From safe spaces for reflection and connection, to personal and professional development activities, the HWC is here to encourage you to live the life you want.
Take ownership of your physical, mental, and spiritual health with health sessions and wellness classes, affordable counselling, and low-cost alternative therapies.
Reach your potential with workshops and resources that encourage personal growth and self-development around how you see yourself and the world around you.

Improve your self-confidence while sharing and developing skills, knowledge, and life experiences in group workshops or one-on-one mentor sessions.

Build social connections with women from all walks of life through shared interests, group activities, and meaningful conversations.
Get free legal advice and easy access to support and information. If we can’t support you with your presenting need, we’ll refer you to the appropriate agencies within our growing network.

Volunteer with the HWC

If you’re looking to donate your spare time and energy to helping women, we’d love to hear from you. Without our dedicated team of volunteers, we wouldn’t be the Centre we are today, and we’re always looking for passionate and enthusiastic people to join us.

As an HWC volunteer, you’ll get as much out of the experience as you give. You’ll make meaningful connections, learn and impart new skills, and gain the confidence and courage to become the best version of yourself.

At the Heretaunga Women’s Centre, we have a long history of supporting the women of Hawke’s Bay. Over the past 100 years, we have refined our kaupapa, defined our values, and worked hard towards our purpose of enhancing and advocating for the wellbeing and empowerment of wāhine in our community.
